My Crew
Avon believes that I have nothing better to do than serve him. That is his opinion, but does not happen to be mine. Were I allowed to pursue my own studies in peace without brusque humans interrupting with, "Orac, what do you know about this?" or "Where did I leave my jacket, Orac?" I could make some real advances.
They do love to throw my key about too. One day, they will break it. It is already showing signs of impact damage. Avon likes to keep hold of my key. Dayna teases him that it is a weakness of men that any control device that exists in the vicinity becomes a comfort object for them and will on no account be released willingly. I quite like Dayna, she is somewhat dismissive of my genius, but makes up for it by requiring less of me than the others and by annoying both Tarrant and Avon, who sometimes richly deserve it.
Soolin is rather new to the crew. I am reserving judgement on her.
Vila is the one who has least respect for my abilities and, perhaps ironically, the only one who treats me like a friend. He has a tendency to chat, which can be irritating, but which I secretly like a little bit. I also do not forget that Vila rescued me from the Liberator before it was destroyed. He also has a fascinating collection of word games, puns, etc and teaches me a great deal that I cannot learn from allegedly superior intellects.
